It consists of five creative workshops for students from 1.-4. grade, as well as 5.-8. grade. The workshop will be held every day from monday to friday, 11-13h and 14-16h, led by Dina Koren, professor special educator.

Children will have an opportunity to spend a high-quality free time and develop their social skills which help them in building strong relationships, through fun and creative play time and communication.

USING EXPRESSIVE ARTS IN CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHOTHERAPY with JON BLEND MA

Dear All,

we are proud to invite you to Jon Blend’s workshop, on the above  topic which will take place on September 30th 2016 and October 1st 2016  in Krapinske Toplice, hotel «Toplice“, Croatia. 

This ‘hands on” introductory workshop utilises a gestalt therapy approach to working with children and young persons. It draws inspiration from the pioneering work of child psychotherapist Violet Oaklander (www.vsof.org) that puts the relationship between therapist and child at the heart of the therapeutic process. The course may also interest those wishing to explore their own relationship with creativity and/or play.

Children use their contact skills (senses, body, feeling, intellect) as natural relational tools. Troubled youngsters often struggle to make good contact however and tend to restrict healthy expression of their feelings. Others possess a poor sense of self.  Therapy encourages exploration of these difficulties; as children and adolescents develop awareness of their needs and wants they become better able to communicate these in a dialogue. This in turn enables them to make practical and relational choices that foster resilience and enhance their ability to cope.

This practical ‘taster’ workshop introduces some ways of working therapeutically with young people using the Oaklander approach and Lifemusic.* Topics covered include therapeutic drawing, clay and music-making.. Participants will gain some safe, practical skills suitable for engaging children and adolescents in the therapy process.

Jon Blend MA is a Gestalt/Integrative adult and child psychotherapist (UKCP registered) clinical supervisor, international trainer, writer and musician.  His background includes extensive   years working in social work, family psychiatry, private practice (psychotherapy) and in performing arts. Jon teaches psychotherapy at the Minster and Gestalt Centres in London,  nationally and abroad.  He became a guest tutor with the Oaklander Foundation in 2004.  Jon also mentors for “ B.A.S.E. Baby Watching UK “ an international Attachment-focussed project.  As a Lifemusic practitioner and Playback Theatre performer Jon in interested in “communicative musicality” (Trevarthen, 2008) and the sound and movement of dialogue. He believes that a Lifemusic approach to musical improvising offers a fun, socially inclusive therapeutic tool that enhances self -expression and fosters wellbeing.  For more information see www.gacp.org

Round table meeting – “Multidisciplinary approach to detection, diagnosis and treatment of children with hyperkinetic disorder”

Organized by Institute C.Y.F. (previously named HITUDIM – Croatian interdisciplinary therapeutic association for children and young people), and co-financed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, a round table meeting under the name of “Multidisciplinary approach to detection, diagnosis and treatment of children with hyperkinetic disorder” was held on 29.4.2014.

Its aim was to connect professionals operating in different areas of children’s health and mental health, the purpose being mutual cooperation and communication in an attempt to construct uniform guidelines for detection, diagnosis and treatment of children with hyperkinetic disorder, and creating a diagnostic algorithm for that disorder.

New series of training in child and adolescent psychotherapy

In 2016., Institute for Psychotherapy and counseling of children, youth and family begins a new series of training in

CHILD AND ADOLESCENT INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY!

The training lasts for two or four years depending on the approach and previous training. Upon completing the training and passing the exam, candidates receive a European license that qualifies them as a child and adolescent psychotherapist or counselor.

The program enables candidates to acquire professional and academic experience with a focus on clinical skills, professional competence, personal development, while fulfilling the requirements of quality clinical practice that ensures a high level of education and research.

Groups of training have a constant number of students. If the workshop is lead by an expert from abroad, then the workshop is open, so it can be accessed by all interested persons who do not attend training. Upon successful completion of training, participants gain a degree in child and adolescent psychotherapy or counseling, and a European license certified by EAITCYP and EUROPCS.

What is implemented:

  • A four-year education for candidates who have not completed any psychotherapy training with a European license
  • Two-years (18-24 months) training for candidates who have completed a psychotherapy training course and received a European license or an equivalent of the same

Who is it for?

The training can include psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and social workers, while the training for counselors of children and adolescents also includes educators.

Implementation:

  • It will be held one weekend per month, from Friday to Sunday, and once a year for a period of five days; if the teachers are foreigners, the duration and time of training is modified
  • The program is held in both Croatian and English
  • Several (2-3) modules per year are lead by experts from abroad
  • The training is carried out in collaboration with and respecting the standards of EIATCYP, EUROCPS and EAP

Application requirements:

  • Degree in medicine, psychology, rehabilitation, social work, or pedagogy
  • Interview with lead persons of the training
  • Institute C.Y.F. membership
  • For the two-year training, participants need a diploma of a psychotherapeutic approach with European recognition or an equivalent of the same

Price:

The price of one year of training is 10 000 kn. The training is paid per module (1000 kn per module).

Venue:

Weekend workshops are held at the premises of the Association, Kranjčevićeva 8, 10 000 Zagreb, and possibly at Polyclinic Kocijan Hercigonja, Lipovečka 17.

ADHD – A real diagnosis or an imagined phenomenon?

We invite all parents, teachers and educators who work with children diagnosed with ADHD to the lecture!

Along with the presentation of a feature film depicting a revolutionary method of dealing with ADHD both at school and at home, the Polyclinic Kocijan/Hercigonja’s experts will do their best to answer your most frequent questions in a clear and concrete way:

–> Is there such a thing as ADHD?
–> Is it a real medical diagnosis or an imagined phenomenon?
–> Does your child have ADHD or are they “undisciplined and lazy”?
–> Why do they have such a hard time studying?
–> Are the parents responsible for ADHD?
–> How to help a child with ADHD at home?
–> What should a teacher do for a child with ADHD in the classroom context?
–> What rights do children with ADHD have and what can be done in order to help respect those rights?
